The Vallabhbhai Patel Chest Institute (VPCI) is a postgraduate medical centre focused on treating patients with chest ailments and conducting research in the field. The institute, which is administered by Delhi University and wholly sponsored by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, was founded in 1946 and then officially inaugurated on January 12, 1953.
Vallabhbhai Patel Chest Institute courses offered are DM, MD, and Ph.D. spread over five different specialties for the MD and PhD.
For admission to the MD programme, students must pass the National Eligibility Entrance Test Post-Graduate (NEET PG), which is followed by online counselling. The candidate must have successfully completed a one-year mandatory rotating internship and submit their internship completion certificate before or at the time of appearing for the counselling. They must also have passed the final M.B.B.S. examination from the University of Delhi.
