M. Tech in Electrical Engineering is a postgraduate program which is of a total of 2 years duration, divided into four semesters. The candidates who have pursued a degree in  Bachelors of Technology (B. Tech) in any stream can pursue a course in M. Tech in Electrical Engineering. Through this course, the students are provided with a curriculum of the specialised concept of Electrical Engineering with in-depth theoretical and practical knowledge of Electrical concept. The various areas of Electrical which are covered by M. Tech in Electrical Engineering course include Vehicular Technology, Electro-optics, Laser Technology, Remote Sensing, Ferro Electronics, etc.

The selection of candidates for admission to M. Tech in EE course is done either through direct admission or through a national level entrance exam such as Gate or TANCET. Admission Process

While some college offers admission to M. Tech Electrical Engineering program on the basis of merit obtained by the student in a National level entrance exam (GATE), some of the colleges also conduct their own entrance exam for testing the eligibility of students for admission. Based on the merit obtained by the student in the qualifying exam or an entrance exam, the shortlisted candidates are called for the university level test in which their proficiency in terms of Electrical Engineering, Mathematics Concept, Aptitude and Reasoning are evaluated. Based on the performance of the student in the entrance exam, the qualified candidates are further called for the personal interview round conducted by the colleges. Based on the overall marks obtained by the student in the entrance exam and the interview round, the eligible candidates are offered admission to the program.

The course fee for M. Tech Electrical Engineering depends on various factors such as the type of the institute,  the popularity/ ranking of the institute, and the merit/ scholarship earned by the student. For instance, the student having higher marks in the entrance exam will be provided higher scholarship, accounting for a lower course fee as compared to students with direct admission.
