Bidhan Chandra Krishi Vishwavidyalaya is a state agricultural university established in 1974. Currently, the university has three campuses in West Bengal. The main campus is located in Nadia. The university offers UG, PG and doctoral programmes on a large variety of subjects. Bidhan Chandra Krishi Vishwavidyalaya is recognised as one of the topmost agricultural universities in India. As per the Bidhan Chandra Krishi Viswavidyalaya admission UG admission criteria an additional 20 seats in B.Sc will be offered on the basis of marks obtained in All India Entrance Exam conducted by ICAR. 2 seats in the B.Sc programme at the Mohanpur campus are reserved for the candidates belonging to the hill tribe quota sponsored by GTA, Darjeeling. Bidhan Chandra Krishi Viswavidyalaya has collaborated with various national and international organizations for conducting research and experiments. Some of these organizations are ICARDA, IPNI, Norway Research Council and Norway Meteorological Institute, Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research, The John Innes Center, and National Initiative on Agricultural Biotechnology, UK etc. There are several collaborative projects that BCKV is conducting. • An International Academic and Research Collaboration has been done with John Inns centre (JIC), National Institute of Agricultural Botany (NIAB), UK funded by British Biotechnology Biological Science Council (BBSRC).
• A collaborative research has been initiated with Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research (ACIAR), Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (CSIRO, Australia), Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute (BARI) and Bangladesh Rice Research Institute (BRRI).
• Research Council of Norway is funding the research on “The Response of Hydrological System in India to Climate change”.
