IGNOU Admission 2024: Dates, UG & PG Courses Form, Application process

Indira Gandhi National Open University admissions to the Certificate, Diploma, Undergraduate and Postgraduate courses are done on the basis of merit from the most recent qualifying examination. However, for some courses such as B.Ed, B.Sc Nursing, M.Phil and PhD, an entrance examination is conducted, the scores of which along with the previous merit will determine admission to IGNOU. The registrations have to be done on the IGNOU admission portal. The portal can be accessed from the university’s official website, or directly at ignouadmission.samarth.edu.in. The portal for IGNOU admissions is provided for Open and Distance Learning Programmes (ODL Programme). From the ‘Programme Information’ category, candidates can view the courses offered and for which ones the admissions are open. The IGNOU admission process is conducted in two sessions namely in the months of January and July.

Candidates are admitted on the basis of the marks secured in their last qualifying examination, through the IGNOU direct admission process. To secure admission, meeting the basic eligibility criteria is mandatory. The university also conducts entrance exams for admission to programmes like B.Ed, B.Sc Nursing, M.Phil and PhD. Once the candidates successfully passes the entrance test, they will then be eligible to apply for admission to IGNOU.

The Indira Gandhi National Open University application process is held in online mode via the official website. The steps are as follows:

Step 1 - Visit the official website of IGNOU University (ignou.ac.in).

Step 2 - Pick the 'Register Online' link, and choose your preference from the drop down menu. 

Step 3 - Click on 'Fresh Admission' for new registrations; you will then be sent to the IGNOU admissions portal (ignouadmission.samarth.edu.in).

Step  4 - Fill out the form by clicking 'New Registration'/ If you are already a registered user, click the 'Login' option.

Step 5 - Add your personal email address and mobile phone number; select a User Name and a Password.

Step 6 - Press the 'Submit' button.

Step 7 - Complete the IGNOU application form.

Step 8 - Provide scanned copies of your original documents and upload them.

Step 9 - Make the fee payment with a credit card (Master/Visa), a debit card (Master/Visa/Rupay), or through Net Banking.

Step 10 - To view the IGNOU admission form preview, click the 'Next' option. 

Step 11 - Print and save your form for future use.

IGNOU Admission Process: Required Documents

• Educational Qualification Scanned copy (less than 200 KB).
• Scanned Copy of Category Certificate (SC/ST/OBC) (less than 200 KB).
• Scanned copy of work experience certificate (if applicable) (less than 200 KB).
• Photo and signature scanned copies (less than 100 KB).

There are around 16 specialisations offered under the Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree at IGNOU University. There are options for both Honours and General programmes. • Candidates must have passed from a recognised board.
• For IGNOU BSc admission, candidates must have passed the class 10+2 qualifying exam or its equivalent.

IGNOU BSc Selection Process 2024

• The IGNOU BSc admission process is based on merit.

The Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com) is a three year long programme. Candidates who will meet the IGNOU admission criteria for B.Com are eligible for admission to this programme. The details are given here.

IGNOU BCom Eligibility Criteria 2024

• Passed 10+2 from a recognised board.
• Or, applicants who have completed the University's Bachelors Preparatory Programme (BPP).

IGNOU BCom Selection Process 2024

• Merit-based admission is done for the IGNOU BCom programme.

The Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA) is an undergraduate programme for computer/ technology enthusiasts. The course is of three years duration.

• Passed 10+2 or equivalent exam.
• Candidates must have passed from a recognised board, for the IGNOU BCA admission process.

The Master of Business Administration (MBA) programme offers around six specialisations. The programme duration is two years. For IGNOU MBA admission 2024, candidates have to meet the admission requirements give below:

IGNOU MBA Eligibility Criteria 2024

• Must have passed with a Graduation Degree of minimum 3 years duration with at least 50% marks.
• Reserved category candidates will get a 5% relaxation in the eligibility criteria, i.e., 45% marks in Graduation.
• Candidates must have a degree from any stream from a recognised university.

IGNOU MBA Selection Process 2024

• On the basis of the IGNOU OPENMAT exam and the previous merit, the IGNOU MBA admission 2024 is done.

The Master of Computer Application (MCA) is a two years long course. Candidates must meet the following admission conditions for IGNOU MCA admission 2024:

• Passed BCA/B.Sc (Computer Science)/ B.Sc. (IT)/ B.E.(CSE)/ B.Tech. (CSE)/B.E. (IT)/B.Tech. (IT) or equivalent degree.
