About UNIPUNE
Savitribai Phule Pune University, popularly known as SPPU or UniPune, is one of the largest public state universities in India. The university was established in 1949 as Poona University under the Poona University Act passed by the Bombay Legislature in 1948. Over the years, the university has proved its academic and research excellence bringing it the title of the ‘Oxford of the East’. It also has been ranked by several national and international ranking bodies among the top Indian universities. In fact, students often wonder: What is the rank of SPPU in the NIRF ranking? They must know that it has been ranked 19th in the university category and 34th in the overall category in the NIRF Ranking List 2023. It has also been ranked in the 601-800 band in the overall category by the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2023.
UniPune is also approved by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with an ‘A+’ grade. The SPPU course list is vast and includes UG, PG, diploma, PG diploma, PhD, and certificate courses in engineering, management, arts, science, and commerce. All these courses are offered under its 46 academic departments. Admissions to the UG, PG, PhD courses are offered based on an applicant's performance in the prescribed entrance examination. Pune University also accepts scores of entrance exams such as MAH MBA CET, MAH MCA CET GATE, CAT, MAT, ATMA, XAT, OEE, etc.
The UniPune campus is spread across an area of about 411 acres. There are a total of 705 affiliated colleges, 234 recognised institutes, and 71 research institutes under its umbrella. The university’s excellent academic and placement record along with excellent facilities attract both national and foreign students. The campus has hostels for both boys and girls. The SPPU admission process primarily depends on the choice of your course. The UG, PG, and PhD admissions at UniPune are primarily an entrance-test-based process. For courses such as MBA, M.Tech and MCA, the university accepts national and state-level entrance exams, including CAT, MAT, XAT, ATMA, CMAT, MAH MBA CET, GATE, and MAH MCA CET. The university also conducts an Online Entrance Exam (OEE) for admission to its various UG and PG programmes. On the other hand, UniPune admissions for PhD are based on the candidates’ performance in the university’s PhD entrance exam or UGC NET/ CSIR NET/ GATE.

SPPU Pune Application Process 2024
The university has a dedicated UniPune application portal to streamline its online application process. Eligible candidates must fill out the online application form to be considered for the selection process. UniPune Placements
The dedicated Placement Centre at SPPU conducts on-campus placement drives annually. Interested recruiters must fill out the SPPU placement registration form to conduct recruitment drives. Students in their final year of respective courses are eligible to participate in the UniPune placement process. In 2022, the median salary received by the students of three-year UG programmes was Rs 4.5 lakh per annum.

UniPune Cut Off
The Maharashtra State CET Cell conducts the centralised UniPune counselling process for MBA and MCA programmes every year. Counselling processes for all their courses are done in a total of three rounds and are based on the prescribed entrance exams. The UniPune curriculum follows a semester-based system. Students must clear all semesters to get their final degree certificates from the university.
