About WBSU

WBSU admission 2023 for various programmes is going to begin soon. WBSU registration for B.Ed 1st sem from Gobardanga Hindu B.Ed College is being done from February 7, 2023, to February 10, 2023.  WBSU results for PhD are out.

Established in 2008 West Bengal State University or WBSU is a state university located in Barasat, West Bengal, India. WBSU Barasat is recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and offers courses in various fields of study, such as arts, science, commerce, and management. WBSU provides various scholarship opportunities and campus placement facilities to its students through its placement cell.  WBSU has a total of 1385 seats in 31 PG departments. 

The university offers admission to undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral-level courses. Interested candidates can apply directly and complete the WBSU application process online. WBSU UG admission is offered to B.LIS.I.Sc only. Though the affiliated colleges of WBSU provide admission to other UG programmes.

WBSU PG admission is offered to courses such as MA, M.Sc, M.Com, MRS and M.Phil. WBSU has also started three new programmes at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The newly introduced programmes are Master of Business Administration, Bachelor in Library and Information Sciences, and MA in Arabic. 

Students are required to qualify for the West Bengal State University eligibility criteria to apply for admission to their desired programmes. The final selection of candidates for admission to most of the WBSU courses is merit-based. Whereas, WBSU PhD admission is based on the candidate’s performance in viva-voce conducted by the university.  The university has 53 affiliated colleges in the West Bengal region and 31 PG departments.

WBSU admission 2023 dates will be announced soon and the admission process will begin for UG, PG and doctoral programmes. The WBSU application process is online for most of the courses. Candidates can easily fill out the application form through the official admission portal of WBSU.  West Bengal State University offers admission to most of its courses on the basis of merit. Though, the WBSU admission process for M.Phil and PhD programmes is based on the candidate’s performance in national/state level entrance tests and viva-voce held by the university. WBSU Application Process 2024 

Step 1: Visit the official website of WBSU at wbsu.ac.in. 

Step 2: Click on the ‘ Apply Now’ button on the home page.

Step 3: Register yourself by filling out the required information. 

Step 4: Login and fill out the WBSU application form.  

Step 5: Pay the registration/application fees and submit. 

After submitting the application, students must keep a copy of their application in printed form and submit the form along with the supporting documents to the PG section of WBSU at the time of verification. Students must also have the e-receipt of the WBSU admission fees payment.

The WBSU admission fee payment can be made using the multi-option payment system (MOPS) such as Net Banking, debit/credit cards, and digital wallet. WBSU does not accept any UPI payment.

  • Original mark sheets (Semester-I to VI as per CBCS pattern / Part-I, Part-II & Part-III for non-CBCS) should be shown during the verification after admission if selected. 
  • Self-attested copies of mark sheets (Semester-I to VI as per CBCS pattern / Part-I, Part-II & Part-III for non-CBCS) and other testimonials should be attached with the application form
  • SC/ST candidates should write “SC/ST candidate” on the top of the application form and they must attach a self-attested Xerox copy of the SC/ST certificate from the office of the SDO.
  • Persons with Disability (PWD) candidates must mention the words “PWD” on the top of the application form and must attach a certificate from the Competent Authority. WBSU Placements

WBSU placements are coordinated by the placement cell at the university. Each department's students are provided with guidance to appear for recruitment at the university. Students at WBSU are placed as lecturers or professors in universities or colleges. Students who do not participate in placements go for higher studies and have qualified exams like NET, GATE JRF, etc.

WBSU offers full placement assistance and opportunities to its students in their field of study. WBSU placement cell plays an important role in training and developing students for the industry. The university offers employment-based and outreach training programmes in collaboration with prestigious institutions such as IIM, and IOTA.
