Established in 2008 West Bengal State University or WBSU is a state university located in Barasat, West Bengal, India. WBSU Barasat is recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and offers courses in various fields of study, such as arts, science, commerce, and management. WBSU provides various scholarship opportunities and campus placement facilities to its students through its placement cell. WBSU has a total of 1385 seats in 31 PG departments.
The university offers admission to undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral-level courses. Interested candidates can apply directly and complete the WBSU application process online. WBSU UG admission is offered to B.LIS.I.Sc only. Though the affiliated colleges of WBSU provide admission to other UG programmes.
WBSU PG admission is offered to courses such as MA, M.Sc, M.Com, MRS and M.Phil. WBSU has also started three new programmes at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The newly introduced programmes are Master of Business Administration, Bachelor in Library and Information Sciences, and MA in Arabic.
Students are required to qualify for the West Bengal State University eligibility criteria to apply for admission to their desired programmes. The final selection of candidates for admission to most of the WBSU courses is merit-based. Whereas, WBSU PhD admission is based on the candidate’s performance in viva-voce conducted by the university. The university has 53 affiliated colleges in the West Bengal region and 31 PG departments.

Step 2: Click on the ‘ Apply Now’ button on the home page.
Step 3: Register yourself by filling out the required information.
Step 4: Login and fill out the WBSU application form.
Step 5: Pay the registration/application fees and submit.
After submitting the application, students must keep a copy of their application in printed form and submit the form along with the supporting documents to the PG section of WBSU at the time of verification. Students must also have the e-receipt of the WBSU admission fees payment.
The WBSU admission fee payment can be made using the multi-option payment system (MOPS) such as Net Banking, debit/credit cards, and digital wallet. WBSU does not accept any UPI payment.

WBSU placements are coordinated by the placement cell at the university. Each department's students are provided with guidance to appear for recruitment at the university.
