About Assam University
Assam University is a central university founded by a Parliamentary Act in 1994 and NAAC-accredited with a Grade B. The university comprises 16 schools that offer courses in Humanities, Languages, Environmental Sciences, Information Sciences, Physical Sciences, Life Sciences, Social Sciences, Law, Technology, and Management Studies. There are 57 departments within these sixteen schools.
Assam University provides over 18 courses at the Certification, Undergraduate, Postgraduate, Diploma, and Doctoral levels in various specialisations. The popular UG courses offered are B. Tech, B.Voc, B.Pharma, BA LLB, BSc B.Ed, etc. Assam University admission for UG courses is done via CUET UG and JEE Main. Assam University PG courses include MBA, MSc, M.Com, M.Pharma, M.Sc, MA, etc. Admission to PG courses is done through CUET PG, GATE, CAT, MAT, XAT, CMAT, etc. The university has been ranked 101-150 by NIRF Ranking 2023 in the overall category. In the IIRF Ranking 2024, Assam University got 25 out of 50 positions in the overall category. As per the Assam University placements 2023 report, the MBA programme received the highest package of Rs 10 LPA. The highest package offered to B.Tech CSE students was Rs 6 LPA. It provides good placement opportunities to its students at popular companies like TCS, Wipro, Capgemini, Bandhan Bank, ITC Limited, and ICICI Securities.

Assam University Admission Process 2024
Registration for admissions to various courses is held online. The following are the steps that a candidate must follow for Assam University admission:
- Visit the official website of Assam University at aus.ac.in.
- Go to the Assam University admission portal.
- The applicant must select the desired course based on the self-assessment after studying the information brochure of the institute.
- The applicant must log in to the “Registration Login” page on the official homepage of the university’s official website.
- The applicant needs to fill in the relevant details like; personal details, contact details, academic details, payment details and residential details. The documents that the candidate must keep with them include; UID documents, identity proof, mark sheets and certificates and passport-sized photographs.
- The candidate must complete their application form by submitting their Assam University application fees of Rs 500 via online payment.
- The procedure for applying for CUET also remains the same.
- The candidates need to check the merit list online for their admission status based on all the processes mentioned above.

Assam University placement 2024 reports have not been released yet. As per pervious year reports, MBA students received the overall highest package, which was Rs 10 LPA. Furthermore, the highest offer for CSE and ECE students was Rs 6 LPA and Rs 7 LPA, respectively. Assam University cutoff is the minimum mark required to get admission. The cutoff is determined by the exam conducting bodies. For example, B.Tech admissions 2024 are done via JoSAA counselling. In order to take admission under the PhD programme offered by Assam University, you must have a valid PG degree with at minimum 55% marks. And if you belong to one of the reserved categories, then you should have minimum 50% marks. The selection process for PhD programme is on the basis of Research Entrance Test (RET) conducted by the university. This entrance test comprises of a written round and an interview. Post this, Assam University prepares a merit list as per the performance of the students in RET. if you talk about the weightage given, then 70% goes to the written test and remaining 30% in the interview.
