NIT Meghalaya - Admission 2025, Fees, Courses, Placement, Ranking

NIT Meghalaya BTech admission requires candidates to have a valid JEE Main scorecard. The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released the scores and results for JEE Main 2024 session two paper one on April 24, 2024. Students can download their scorecard for JEE Main 2024 session two by entering their application number, date of birth and security pin on the NTA website. JoSAA counselling process registration will start on June 10, 2024, for BTech admission, and the cutoffs may be released in the second week of June 2024. As per the press release by NTA, a total of 56 students received 100 NTA scores in paper one.

NIT Meghalaya or National Institute of Technology Meghalaya, is one of the pioneer institutes of our country to impart knowledge in various fields of Information and Technology. Established in 2010, the NIT Meghalaya is one of the 31 NITs in India to have been declared Institutes of Importance under the NIT Act 2007 of the Parliament of India. The institute has since been functioning from its old campus in Shillong, with total funding support from the Ministry of Education, Government of India. NIT Meghalaya is ranked 72 in the NIRF rankings 2023 with a score of 47.27. 

NIT Meghalaya aims at imparting quality education to bright students in the fields of Science, Engineering and Technology in undergraduate and postgraduate courses. The institute currently offers B.Tech/BE programmes in five specialisations- Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, and Electronics and Communication Engineering; M.Tech/ME in five specialisations same as B.Tech, M.Sc in three subjects-Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics and doctoral degree in various streams of Science, Engineering and Humanities. The B.Tech/BE programme is for 4 years, M.Tech/M.E is for 2 years, MSc for 2 years, and PhD for 5 years.

MNCs like Amazon, Wipro, Samsung, Bosch, Huawei, Vedanta, Nissan, IBM, Deloitte, TCS, Cognizant, L&T, and Infosys, recruit students from the institute. The NIT Meghalaya scholarships are offered to eligible and needy candidates. Students can avail of the following scholarships as listed below

• Chinese Government Scholarships
• Merit scholarships are also given to B.Tech students where a scholarship of 40% of the tuition fee is awarded to the top 5 % of the students based on the CGPA obtained in the last semester
• A merit-cum-means scholarship is given to a B. Tech student who belongs to the non-creamy layer and obtains a CGPA of 7.0 or above, and their parent's income is not more than 4.5 lakhs per annum. A scholarship of 40% of the tuition fee is awarded to the top 5 % of the students.
