ICFAI University Tripura emerged in 2004 through the Tripura Act 8 and is a UGC-recognised university with its law courses approved by the Bar Council of India. The university also holds accreditation from NAAC and approval from AICTE. The 32-acre campus comprises academic blocks, workshops, laboratories, faculty rooms, auditorium, seminar halls, computer labs, a library, canteen, and sports facilities. ICFAI University offers UG, PG and PhD programmes such as BBA, BCA, B.Tech, MBA, M.Tech, etc. 

Student opinions on various online platforms about ICFAI University Tripura are mixed. While some praise the infrastructure and classroom facilities, others express dissatisfaction with the Wi-Fi speed and the campus's remote location, which they feel dulls the campus life. The strict attendance policy is also a concern. Regarding placements, the ICFAI University is praised for its support in preparing students for the selection proces. The university has a placement rate of 70% and an average package of INR 4 LPA. However, the number and quality of companies visiting for campus placements have been questioned by the students.

The campus has had its share of controversies too. An incident that took place in 2019 and was reported by East Mojo, highlighted a case where nine boarders were rusticated from the boys' hostel following a dispute that escalated into allegations of ragging.

Our take:

CFAI University Tripura has consistently ranked among the top engineering colleges in India. It has shown remarkable progress, moving from 7th place in 2020 to 1st in 2022 among top engineering colleges of excellence, according to CSR GHRDC. It has also maintained its 1st position state-wise over the years. Although it didn't rank in Silicon India's top 100 engineering colleges in 2022, it secured the 27th position in 2021. While ICFAI University Tripura participated in the NIRF Ranking, it has yet to secure a position. 

ICFAI University Tripura Academia & Batch Size

ICFAI University Tripura strongly emphasises employability when curating its curriculum, ensuring that students are well-prepared for their future. The university adopts a student-centric learning approach, supported by continuous evaluation and feedback. It utilises a case-based learning method, encouraging students to think critically, analyse situations objectively, and make informed decisions. The curriculum of ICFAI University Tripura courses is designed to provide practical experience through term papers, projects, field visits, and internships. ICFAI University Tripura strictly adheres to the regulatory guidelines of the UGC and other bodies, ensuring a high standard of education.

As per the ICFAI University Tripura's self study report 2021 submitted for NAAC accreditation, there is a concerning trend of lower student enrollment compared to the total seat intake. Despite reserving 237, 431, and 28 seats for SC, ST, and OBC categories, respectively, only 170 SC, 310 ST, and 20 OBC students have enrolled. Similarly, out of 695 General category seats available, only 500 students have enrolled. This indicates that the total seat intake significantly exceeds the number of students enrollments. 

Our Take:

ICFAI University's focus on employability and student-centric learning is quite impressive, effectively preparing students for their future careers. However, the lower student enrollment compared to the total seat intake, especially in the reserved categories, is a concern. Despite adpoting student-centric approach, the university is unable to fill seats which speaks a lot about students choices when it comes to ICFAI University Tripura admission. 

ICFAI University Tripura Infrastructure

Classrooms: The classrooms are spacious and well-equipped, providing a positive learning environment. Students have expressed satisfaction with the classroom facilities.
Auditorium: ICFAI University has an auditorium where various cultural and academic events are held.
Library: The library has a built-up area of 3.41 lakh sq. ft. with a vast collection of books, journals, and e-resources.

Wifi: The ICFAI University Tripura campus is Wi-Fi enabled, but some students have reported issues with network speed, particularly in classrooms, which can be a hindrance to their studies.

Hostels: ICFAI University provides hostel facilities, which have been highly appreciated by the students.The hostel has a capacity for 600 male and female students and is equipped with a medical centre, gymnasium, common room with TV, and other recreational facilities like carroms, chess, and table tennis. 

Activities: The university has outdoor sports facilities for football, cricket, and basketball for the students and staff.

Cafe/Hang-out: The ICFAI University Tripura campus has a canteen that serves a variety of food options. Students have praised the quality of food and the ambience of the canteen. However, some students feel that the remote location of the university limits their hang-out options. 

Our Take:

ICFAI University Tripura has good infrastructure with the necessary facilities and equipment. The university has both academic and sports facilities at the campus that help in the overall development of students. However, there is a room for improvement in certain areas, like Wi-Fi connectivity.

The ICFAI University summer internship programme is a great initiative that effectively bridges the gap between academic learning and real-world industry. As per ICFAI University Tripura placement statistics 2023 the placement rate for the UG 3-Year course is 71%. For the UG 4-Year course, it's around 15%. The UG 5-Year course and PG 2-Year course has a high placement rate of approximately 75%. The data shows that the university needs to improve its placement record and most notably for UG 4-year courses.

The data clearly shows that the majority of students hail from the home state, particularly in the four and five-year UG courses. While there's a small but notable presence of students from outside the state and country, the institution's strong appeal to local students is evident, reflecting its strong roots in the region. The depleted figures of outstation students signify the university is yet to achieve PAN India recogintion and popularity among students.

The data highlights the gender dynamics within the university's programmes. While males dominate the four-year UG courses, females slightly outnumber the male students in the three year and five-year UG programmes, showcasing diverse academic preferences and gender balance in different courses. .

ICFAI University Tripura Faculty

ICFAI University Tripura has a team of experienced and trained faculty members who come from prestigious institutions like IITs, IIMs, IISc, and NALSAR, ensuring a high standard of academic excellence.

Some students appreciate the teaching style of most faculty members, but a few have expressed dissatisfaction, stating that certain teaching methods were not suitable for them. This highlights the subjective nature of teaching and learning, where a method that works for one may not work for another.
