Civil Law is the most famous specialization in the stream of Law. Civil Law Syllabus deals with the cases of divorce, child custody, property ownership, disagreements of contracts, personal and property damage. In civil law, the wrongdoer has the chance to accept his/her mistake or settle a dispute by paying compensation. This brings justice to the culprit legally. There are four types of Civil Law namely Tort, Contract law, Family law and Personal Disputes. The cases that do not involve the breaking of Criminal laws come under Civil Law. The courses offered in Civil Law are undergraduate(LLB) and Postgraduate(LLM). LLB is a 3-year degree course, further divided into 6 semesters which are to be completed in duration of 3 years under regular programme and maximum 5 years under distance programme. The LLM is a 2 years Postgraduate course, further divided into 4 semesters which are to be completed in duration of 2 years under regular programme and maximum 5 years under distance programme.
Civil Law UG can be taken up by candidates who have completed 10+2 in any stream from a recognised board with at least 50% marks and Civil Law PG can be taken up by candidates who have completed LLB or relevant legal graduation from a recognised university or law school with at least 55% marks.
