Highlights of CUSAT CAT 2024 Exam Pattern
Here is a subject-wise summary of the exam pattern of CUSAT CAT -
B.Tech programme or M.Sc (Five Year Integrated) in Photonics or M.Sc (Five Year Integrated) in Computer Science, M.Sc. in Mathematics (5-Year Integrated), M.Sc. in Chemistry (5-Year Integrated) and M.Sc. in Physics (5-Year Integrated)
Below is a quick overview of the exam pattern for majority of the B.Tech programme or M.Sc (Five Year Integrated) in Photonics or M.Sc (Five Year Integrated) in Computer Science, M.Sc. in Mathematics (5-Year Integrated), M.Sc. in Chemistry (5-Year Integrated) and M.Sc. in Physics (5-Year Integrated) -
The examination will contain 225 objective type multiple choice questions based on class 12 syllabus.
Out of these 250 questions, 90 will be from Mathematics, 75 from Physics and 50 from Chemistry.
The examination will be held for 3 hours.
The medium of the question paper is in the English language.
There will be a set of questions to be asked about the various topics mentioned in each part of the syllabus.
Questions will be prepared according to the syllabus and equal weight will be given to all the topics.
Each question will be awarded 3 marks for the correct answer and for every wrong answer, 1 mark will be deducted.
There will be no deduction for unanswered questions.
Note: Applicants applying for the B.Tech programme or M.Sc (Five Year Integrated ) in Photonics or M.Sc (Five Year Integrated ) in Computer Science will have to score a minimum of 10 marks in Mathematics and 10 marks combined from Physics and Chemistry subjects to qualify for the CUSAT CAT ranking list.
However, this requirement will not be applicable for those who come under the Kerala Scheduled Caste and Kerala Scheduled Tribe communities.
B.Voc Programmes
Below is a quick overview of the exam pattern for B.Voc programmes -
- The examination will include 150 objective type questions.
- The major sections include English Language, Numerical Reasoning and Comprehension and Logical Reasoning ability.
- There will be 60 from the Numerical Reasoning ability, 45 each from English Language and Comprehension and Logical Reasoning sections.
- Each correct answer adds 3 marks to the total score and deducts one mark for wrong attempts.
M.Sc. in Biological Sciences (5-Year Integrated)
Here is a synopsis of the exam pattern for M.Sc in Biological Sciences (5-Year Integrated)
- The entrance test will have multiple choice questions of 10+2 level.
- Negative marking is applicable and 1 mark will be deducted for every wrong answer.
- Each correct answer will be awarded with +3.
BBA LLB (H) and / or B.Com LLB
Candidates can select either BBA LL.B or B.Com LL.B or both while completing their online application. If both programmes are chosen, the allotment will be determined by the chronological order of the courses chosen by the applicants.

- Candidates have a total of 150 objective type questions to attempt, which is common for BBA LLB (Honours) and / or B.Com LLB (Honours).
- Candidates will get 3 marks each for the correct answers and one mark will be subtracted for the wrong ones.
