The Ministry of Human Resource Development has a significant role in the upliftment of educational standards across the country. Under this ministry, a number of MHRD scholarships are available to provide financial assistance to both school and college going students. These scholarships are offered both at the national and external level. While the national-level scholarships are managed by different departments under MHRD, external-level scholarships are run along with the government of different foreign nations.

The candidates willing to apply for any scholarship will have to apply online through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP). The student can fill out the application form by registering on the official website and following the further instructions. After the application process is done, the selection committee verifies the form before releasing the merit list. The selection of the participant will be made on the basis of the merit of the candidate. The scholarship concerning the female candidate is received by the eligible candidates. Some scholarships such as the National Means cum merit scholarship select the eligible candidates through a selection test known as the Mental Ability Test (MAT) and Scholastic Ability Test (SAT) which is conducted by each state/UT. In scholarships such as the Prime Minister’s Research Fellowship select the candidate by Reviewing and shortlisting of application forms by Reviewers. Also, the performance of the applicant is measured in a written test or interview at a nodal institute.
PFMS (Public Finance Management System) is platform that helps track the disbursement of funds under the programs/schemes offered by the Ministry of Education, Government of India. Beneficiaries can monitor payment status of all central sector schemes and centrally-sponsored schemes.
