About Calicut University

Calicut University is a public, state university which is situated at Malappuram, Kerala. It was established in the year 1968 and is considered as the largest university in Kerala. The motto of the university is ‘Nirmaya Karmana Sree’ which means "prosperity will be generated through pure actions". The Calicut University Act of 1975, passed by the Legislative Assembly of Kerala, governs the university, which recently celebrated its Golden Jubilee under the theme "University to Society." It is the largest residential college-affiliating university in Kerala, with 34 post-graduate departments and 406 affiliated colleges. The university's major goal is to prepare students for the challenges of a changing world by providing both traditional and cutting-edge study and research options. University students can participate in cutting-edge activities like e-government administration, computerized exams, smart classroom setups for effective learning, lab modernization, and lectures by prominent academics and scientists.

Calicut University has been recognised by UGC and has also been approved by AICTE, New Delhi. The university has been reaccredited by NAAC with an “A+” grade for the 4th time. The university seeks to encourage science-based agriculture and related practices in the State of Kerala through its education, research, and outreach programs in order to help farmers and companies successfully compete in domestic and international markets.

The Calicut University courses are offered to interested candidates at diploma, certificate, undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral levels. These courses are offered to students in the stream of science, arts, commerce, engineering, technology, management and more. All the courses at the college are offered in offline, regular mode as well as distance learning modes to the students. The Calicut University admission to all the courses is offered on the basis of the candidate's performance in the respective entrance exam as well as the last qualifying exam. JEE Main or KEAM for B.Tech courses, JEE Main, NATA or KEAM for B.Arch courses, CAT, CMAT or KMAT for MBA courses, GATE for M.Tech courses are some of the entrance exams that are accepted by the institute for admission.

A gymnasium, boys' and girls' hostels, laboratories, a sports complex, transportation services, banking services, a full-fledged library, a canteen and other amenities are available to students at the Calicut University campus, which is spread out over an area of 520 acres. Additionally, the college has a separate placement cell for tasks related to placement. Every year, placement drives are held by the Calicut University placement cell and the participating recruiters to give students the opportunity to begin their careers before even completing their education. Calicut University UG Admission Process 2024

  • Candidates will have to check the eligibility criteria required for Calicut University admission to UG courses.
  • Candidates who fulfil the eligibility criteria will have to apply and qualify in the last qualifying exam i.e. class 12 in the relevant stream through its official website.

In the first step, candidates shall visit the Calicut University admission website and complete the registration in the following three steps. Candidates applying for PGCAP need to provide their mobile number, and complete the mobile number verification using the OTP received in the number. Once the mobile number is verified using OTP, candidates need to create a CAP ID by providing the basic details. After the successful submission of the details, a CAP ID and password will be sent to the registered mobile number. Calicut University Scholarships

Calicut University scholarships are offered by MHRD, UGC and other agencies for students in all of its departments. Candidates need to fill up an application form and also go through the verification process to avail the below-mentioned scholarships.  

  • Central Sector Scholarship Scheme: Students studying undergraduate and graduate degrees full-time in public and private colleges and universities are eligible for the for college and university students, which is administered by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD). Students must have earned at least 55% on their prior qualifying exam in order to qualify for this award.
  • State Merit Scholarship Programme: The Keralan government offers this scholarship to students who performed well on their qualifying examinations in the past. The preceding qualifying examination must have been passed with at least a 75% grade for students to be eligible for this scholarship.
  • Jilla Merit Award Scheme: Students who earned high marks in the last qualifying examination and are members of the SC or ST communities are eligible for this scholarship from the Keralan government. Students must have received at least 70% on their prior qualifying exam in order to qualify for this award.
  • Suvarna Jubilee Award: The university offers this award to students who received outstanding marks in their previous qualifying exams and who are members of the SC or ST ethnic groups. Students must have obtained a minimum grade point average of 60% on their prior qualifying exam to qualify for this Calicut University scholarship.
  • Research Award Programme: Calicut University provides this award to students who have excelled in their research efforts. Students must receive at least 70% on their research dissertation in order to be considered for this scholarship.
  • Dr. P.K. Aruna Endowment Award for Academic Excellence: It is presented to the dissertation student who earned the highest score in order to meet the minimum requirements for the M.Phil. and Ph.D. degrees.
  • Scholarships for Students with Disabilities: The University of Calicut provides a number of scholarships for students with disabilities. These awards are intended to assist the students in covering their tuition costs.

Calicut University is recognised by UGC and is eligible to award degrees under section 22 of the UGC Act, 1956.
