The Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) was founded in 1962 to help the state of the former Punjab. It was later inaugurated in India by Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, the Prime Minister of India, on July 8, 1963. It is a public university, approved by UGC. PAU offers 83+ programmes in a variety of subjects. Admission to these courses is based on entrance exams.
