Shanmugha Arts, Science, Technology and Research Academy, also commonly known as SASTRA University, is a private and deemed university located in Thanjavur district, Tamil Nadu. SASTRA University courses are available at the doctorate, UG, and PG level. Courses like B.Tech, B.Sc., B.Com, M.Tech, MA, MBA, and Integrated courses are among those available for admission. Class 12th percentage/marks and JEE Main scores determine eligibility for admission to B.Tech. and Integrated M.Tech courses. However, the candidate doesn't need to have appeared for the JEE exams
It should be noted that 50% of the total seats will be filled using JEE Main scores and 10+2 scores, with the remaining 50% being filled using 10+2 scores. SASTRA University admissions for all the courses except B.Tech, Integrated M.Tech, and Integrated Law programmes are done based on the candidate's performance in the qualifying examination. Also, GATE-qualified applicants will be given preference for admission to the M.Tech programmes at SASTRA University. Candidates must take an entrance exam and then interview to be considered for admission to the PhD programme.

SASTRA University scholarships are given to economically challenged students who require considerable financial support. Governmental and non-governmental scholarships are available. The dean's merit list and hostel scholarship are the two main categories of scholarships provided to students. The candidate must fulfil the fundamental structural requirements after enrolling in the programme in order to be eligible for SASTRA University scholarship benefits. As per the university’s admission criteria, students who have appeared for JEE Main can apply for the B.Tech. programmes at SASTRA for which 25% weightage will be given along with the +2 marks for which the weightage given is 75%. This is for 70% of the total seats. They need to enter their JEE scores, whatever the scores are.
