About Jadavpur University
Jadavpur University is an Indian public autonomous university located in Kolkata. The University provides a variety of undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral degree programmes. Jadavpur University courses are available in arts, science, and education, as well as in professional fields such as architecture, engineering, and pharmacy. A total of 140+ courses are available at the university. Jadavpur University is recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). - Hostel: Hostel for Boys has 1254 beds in total. Girls Hostel has 622 beds available. Both of these hostels are located inside the campus. There are 13 hostels with a total capacity of around 1600 students (4 for girls and 9 for boys). Student housing extensions and new buildings are being considered. Moreover, there is an exclusive hostel for research scholars. The student's mess committee is in charge of the hostel mess, which is overseen by the Superintendent of each hostel.
- Labs: Jadavpur University assists its students by offering various labs equipped with all the latest equipment required for studies. There are 24 labs present at the time of writing and these are SAP Lab, Discrete Circuit Lab, VLSI CAD Lab, PC Lab, Xeon Lab, Civil Engineering Lab, Fibre Optic Communication Lab, Electronics Lab, Film Characterisation Lab, Concrete Lab, Physics Lab, CAD Lab, Mechanical Lab, Microprocessor Lab, AI Lab, Power Systems Lab, Comp. - Health Centre: All students have easy access to the health centre, which is located on campus. A full-time Medical Superintendent, part-time qualified General Medicine, Eye, E.N.T., Skin, Dental, and Pathology specialists, and a qualified part-time lady doctor staff the facility. To obtain their health card, students must present their fees book as well as a passport-size photograph to the centre. All consultations and medications are provided at no cost to the students.
- Guest House: Jadavpur University has a guest room building inside the campus where students can facilitate their parents or guardians. The guest house has 90 double bedrooms. 3 double bet plus ac rooms, and two single rooms.
- Sports Facilities: At Jadavpur University students can pursue their favourite sports. The university facilitates several sports grounds such as Athletic Track, Volleyball Courts, Badminton Court, Football Ground, Tennis Court, Outdoor Stadium, Kabaddi Court, Basketball Court, Indoor Stadium, Playground, Cricket Ground, and Kho-Kho field.
- Day Care Centre: The daycare centre is a completely refurbished and fully furnished apartment which has three large rooms, one dining area, kitchen, two toilets, and one balcony. Moreover, it has a small play area with fencing, a refrigerator, microwave oven, water purifier, music system, a trained ayah, centre coordinator, and other necessities.
