AFCAT 1 2024 Eligibility Criteria

The Indian Air Force had set out the eligibility criteria for AFCAT 1 2024 in its official notification. Candidates who wished to apply for the AFCAT 1 2024 exam were required to meet specific requirements related to age, nationality, and educational qualifications. Here's a breakdown of the eligibility criteria:

  • Nationality: Applicants needed to be Indian citizens as per the Indian Citizenship Act of 1955.
  • Age Criteria:
    • Flying Branch: Candidates should have been aged between 20 to 24 years as of July 1, 2024, which means they should have been born between July 2, 2000, and July 1, 2004. However, those holding a valid and current Commercial Pilot License issued by DGCA were eligible for up to 26 years of age.
    • Ground Duty (Technical/Non-Technical) Branches: The age range was from 20 to 26 years as of July 1, 2024, meaning candidates should have been born between July 2, 1998, and July 1, 2004.
  • Educational Qualifications:
    • Ground Duty Technical Branch:
      • Aeronautical Engineer (Mechanical/Electronics): Candidates needed a minimum of 50% aggregate marks in Physics and Mathematics at the 10+2 level, along with a four-year degree in Engineering or Technology from a recognized university. Alternatively, candidates who passed the Associate Membership examination of the Institution of Engineers (India) with at least 60% aggregate marks in specified subjects were also eligible.
    • Ground Duty Non-Technical Branches:
      • Administration: Candidates were required to have completed graduation with at least 60% aggregate marks from a recognized university, or should have cleared the A & B examination with 60% aggregate marks.
      • Weapon System Branch: Applicants needed a minimum of 50% marks in Mathematics and Physics at the 10+2 level, or a graduation degree with 60% aggregate marks from a recognized university. Alternatively, candidates with a B.Tech. degree with at least 60% aggregate marks were also eligible.

AFCAT 1 2024 Application Form

The Indian Air Force allowed applicants to correct their AFCAT 1 2024 application forms online from January 8 to 9, 2024. The application window for AFCAT 1 2024 was closed on December 30, 2023, at afcat.cdac.in. Eligible candidates were able to complete the application process for AFCAT 1 2024. To successfully submit their AFCAT 1 2024 applications, candidates were required to pay a non-refundable application fee, which applied to all genders and categories.

Application Fees

For AFCAT 1 2024, the application fee was INR 550, excluding GST, for candidates applying for the AFCAT entry. Those applying for NCC Special Entry did not have to pay any application fee.

AFCAT 1 2024 Exam Schedule

The AFCAT 1 2024 exam took place from February 16 to 18, 2024. The exam was conducted in two shifts over three days across multiple exam centres. Candidates were strictly instructed not to arrive at the exam centre after 08:00 hrs for shift I and 13:00 hrs for shift II, as the pre-exam verification process had already begun by then.
