MAT Eligibility 2024

MAT eligibility criteria 2024 are a set of conditions that must be fulfilled by all candidates to become eligible to appear for MAT 2024. A candidate must have minimum passing marks in 10+2 and a bachelor's degree in any discipline of a minimum 3-year duration with 50% marks (45% for SC/ ST/ PwD) in any stream from any recognized university. Those appearing in the final year exams of their bachelor's degree course (i.e. BA, BSc, BCom, BTech, etc.) are also eligible to apply, but they will be allowed provisional admission.

Candidates don't need to have work experience for MAT, however, extra weightage will be given to professional experience during the selection process of all top MBA colleges. AIMA has not specified any minimum percentage to be eligible for MAT 2024 and there are no restrictions on the age limit to appear for MAT. Every candidate must go through these eligibility criteria before filling out the MAT 2024 application form.

Criteria of Qualification 

  • Candidates who have completed their bachelor's degree in any stream from a recognized institute or university are eligible to apply.

  • Candidates who are in the final year of their graduation can also apply for MAT 2024.

Criteria for Percentage

  • MAT 2024 does not have any minimum criteria for percentage. Candidates who have passing marks in graduation are eligible to apply for the exam.

  • However, individual colleges may specify percentage requirements for admission based on the course selected by the candidate.

  • The minimum qualifying marks or percentage in the UG degree for admission to the MBA course varies for different institutes.

Age Limit

  • There is no age limit for MAT 2024 examination. As per AIMA rules, candidates of any age can appear for the exam.

Number of Attempts

  • There is no restriction on the number of attempts for MAT 2024. Candidates can appear in MAT as many times as they want.

  • MAT is scheduled to be conducted four times a year. Candidates can appear for all four sessions if they are not satisfied with their scores.

Work Experience

  • Work experience is not required to appear in MAT.

  • However, colleges may attribute weightage to work experience during the selection process.

MAT 2024 Eligibility Criteria for Final Year Students

Final-year students who wish to appear for MAT must read the following points first.

  • Candidates who are in the final year of their graduation are also eligible to apply for MAT.
  • Such candidates can apply for and appear for MAT.

  • However, they will be required to furnish their final year mark sheet before a deadline, which may be specified by AIMA or a college.

  • In case a candidate fails to provide proof of eligibility, their candidature will be cancelled.

Eligibility Criteria of MAT 2024 Participating Colleges

MAT 2024 Participating Colleges may specify additional criteria, which must also be fulfilled by any candidate applying for admission to the desired college. Candidates must take note of the eligibility criteria of individual colleges in addition to that of MAT 2024.

  • A minimum of 50% aggregate marks in graduation is usually required by colleges.

  • Some colleges may even have minimum percentage requirements for Class 12th and/ or Class 10th.

  • Relaxation percentage requirements may be provided to professional degree holders or reserved category candidates.

  • The academic performance of the candidate may be given weightage during selection.

  • Colleges may require candidates to have a minimum work experience to be eligible or such candidates may be given preference during admission.

  • Weightage can be provided to the women candidates in admission criteria.

There is no reservation for MBA admissions in MAT 2024 and no minimum marks are required to apply for MBA admissions through MAT 2024. 

MAT Eligibility Criteria 2024: Calculation of Percentage of Marks

To determine the MAT Eligibility Criteria 2024, the percentage of marks obtained by the candidate would be calculated using the practice that is followed by the respective University/ Institution. All institutions/universities have different processes to calculate the percentage.

In the case of grades/ CGPA, the conversion to percentage of marks would be based on the procedure as certified by the respective University/ institution. The final calculated percentage will be used for filling out the application form of MAT.

MAT Eligibility 2024 for MBA Admission

Fulfilling MAT eligibility criteria does not guarantee selection by any management college. Candidates will have to satisfy the MAT cutoff decided by the selected college and qualify in the college's selection process.   • Candidates must have completed graduation in any stream from a recognized board. The minimum aggregate for General Category students is 50-60% (5% relaxation for Reserved categories).

  • Final-year students can also apply. However, admission is subject to the final exam results of their UG. If the candidate does not score the minimum aggregate, their admission will be revoked.

  • A valid scorecard of any entrance exams such as CAT, MAT, XAT, SNAP, NMAT, CMAT, etc. (whichever is applicable) is required.

  • It is compulsory to have work experience of 3-10 years for an Executive MBA.

Yes. A final year student in any undergraduate program (B.A. /B.Sc. / B.Com. /B.Tech. etc.) can write MAT but admission to such candidate will be granted on a provisional basis.
