I am Soham Mitra, resident of Serampore , a city located in Hooghly district of West Bengal, India. It is my birth place and I have spent my entire life in my home town. My first school is North End Modern School, Serampore where I have studied from Lower Nursery upto Class 5. From my very childhood, I have been a very shy person not very interested in the external world. I would rather spend time sitting in my own room than go out and play with other kids in the neighbourhood. My parents would often wonder as to why ami I not interested to go out and explore outdoor games like football or cricket like other kids. I simply did not have any interest in them . But I was deeply interested in swimming which I enjoyed a lot and practiced it for 3 – 4 years. I also enjoyed playing batminton in winter. I enjoyed being by myself alone introspecting as well as soaking in the beauty of nature whenever possible. I did not feel that I’m different and I did what came to me naturally. The school days were of great joy to me for there were not much worries and one could spend time in joy with friends. I was not a first ranking student but I was decent in studies. Mathematics was my terror subject and I had to struggle a lot in that area to make things work. I was more inclined towards subjects like English, Bengali and geography which I found to be intersting.  I was also highly inclined towards arts and crafts which I thouroghly enjoyed. Making craft items and drawing were my favourite pastime.

When I changed my school to Techno India Group Public School Hooghly in class 6 , it was a tough experience for me in terms of adjusting with a completely new setup and new set of classmates and teachers. I did really bad academically in the first year. Things became better with time and I got a hold of things around me. The two years of Class 11 and 12 were the best years of my student life. I was with friends whose company I thoroughly enjoyed and I was studying subjects which I loved. I was in Humanities stream and had subjects like Geography, Psychology, Home Science, Economics in addition to languages.

I did my graduation in English Hons. From Serampore College in my hometown which is affliated under Calcutta University. The first year was a bit rough for me as I could not figure out the way the course operates. The last two years were quite fruitful for me as I got in the groove of my course and enjoyed studying for it.

I studied for my Masters in Visva-Bharati University, Santiniketan, West Bengal in Communication & Journalism which was an altogether different experience for me. I stayed away from my home for the first time ever in my life which changed a lot of things in me. The classmates were very friendly and I was at my comfortable best with them. I did well academically as well and was always supported by my classmates in teamwork and otherwise.

My interest in social media and digital marketing made me take up a Diploma course in Digital Marketing after my post graduation. It gave me an insight into how the world around has completely changed be it in terms of business and finance and also consumer nature.

My first job was that of a Social Media Executive last year which I did not continue for long as I was not enjoying it. It was not something that I thought would work for me in terms of job role as well as job satisfaction. I left that job in three months and started applying for jobs in the content writer role. It took me three months to finally secure a job at collegdekho.com which I’m doing currently. The few days of experience here tells me that the role has suited me well and I’m quite enjoying it. I’m being able to maintain work life balance  and carry out my daily operations with ease . Hoping for a great time here.
