17% Increase in Applicants for NMAT Basis GMAC Registrations 2016

The Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC) has announced that there has been a 17% increase in the number of applications received for NMAT conducted by GMAC.

The Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC) announced that there has been a 17% increase in the number of applications received for NMAT conducted by GMAC. The total number of registrations done in 2016 were 82,928 in 2016 whereas in 2015 the number was 70,950.

There were several unique features introduced in 2016's registration process to make the platform more user-friendly.

These features included:

  • Single sign-in
  • 12 mobile wallet payment options
  • 5 new test centers to choose from

The growth can be credited to the 3 top quality institutions including Xavier University, Bhubaneswar; Shiv Nadar University and MISB Bocconi, who accept scores of NMAT by GMAC.

Director of Product Management, GMAC, Mr. Vikram Shah said that in 2016, there have been 39% women and 46% non-engineers among the students who have registered. This shows improvement in the diversity of the applicants. He further added that candidates are attracted towards the exam as it is the most diverse management education test in India.

He also said that the 19 institutions associated with NMAT by GMAC will have to work closely in order to properly evaluate the students who have applied for NMAT so they can be accommodated according to their talents.

Explaining the increase in the number of applicants, Gaurav Srivastava, Regional Director of GMAC, South Asia, said that the exam provides the candidates with unparalleled accessibility in terms of testing experience and evaluation of online scores. This is one of the major reasons that more candidates have applied for NMAT by GMAC in 2016.
