Aeries, a global technology leader in the Internet of Things has tied up with Indian Institute of Technology Varanasi (IIT BHU) and Malaviya Centre for Incubation, Innovation and Entrepreneurship (MCIIE) for the establishment of a state-of-the-art ‘Internet of Things – Centre of Excellence’ (CoE). The Centre of Excellence will be established at the IIT BHU campus.
The collaboration will focus on developing skill workers in India and to increase innovation and entrepreneurship in technologies like IoT.
The association between IIT BHU and Aeris will help in conducting research and in providing IoT solutions. It will also support initiatives like Digital India and Make in India. The collaboration will also offer IIT- BHU and MCIIE students training and hands-on experience in IoT technology. The training for the students will be provided by Aeris employees from both India and the USA.

According to the survey of McKinsey Global Institute, the IoT market is expected to cross $200 billion by the year 2020 India has a market share of over 43% (USD $1.5 billion) in the global IoT market and which is expected to grow to $15 billion. This will provide relevant opportunities to Indian startups, technologists and service providers.

With the expansion of IoT in the country, there will be a huge requirement of professionals with this skill set to fill the new job roles. As per the reports of Cisco, over 220,000 new engineers will be required all over the world for the IoT technology jobs. Apart from this, 500,00 program managers and over 4 million IoT developers will also be required to fill the posts.
