The Saksham Scholarships for differently-abled students and the Pragati Scholarships for Women in higher education have been announced for this year by the Statutory Body of the Government of India AICTE (All India Council of Technical Education). Students who are looking forward to availing these scholarships must apply before 8th October 2019. These scholarships are available for students taking admission in 2019 session under any undergraduate technical or engineering course in an approved AICTE institution.
The total number of scholarships which will be offered under the Pragati scheme is 4000 among which, 2000 will be for diploma students. Under the Saksham scheme, 1000 scholarships will be offered among which, 500 will be for Diploma courses.
Pragati & Saksham Scheme Eligibility Criteria
Following are the eligibility criteria for both of the scholarship schemes (Pragati and Saksham) in the 2019 session.
The candidate must be a first-year student taken admission under 2019-20 session
The applicants for Pragati scheme must be Girls
The applicants for Saksham scheme must be physically disabled persons with a minimum of 40% disability.
Only candidates admitted under the centralised admission process are eligible.
The annual family income of the candidate must not be higher than 6 lakh
Family with a maximum number of 2 children are eligible only.
Covered Expenses Under Pragati & Saksham Schemes
30,000 rupees of whole tuition fees or the full tuition fees (whichever is lower)
Per year incidentals charges of 2,000 rupees given per month for 10 months
Documents Required for Pragati & Saksham Scheme Application
The students are asked to produce the following documents for applying in the Saksham and Pragati Schemes of AICTE,
Mark sheet of X/XII
Certificate of annual family income of last year issued by not a lower government officer than Tahsildar
For Diploma students, admission certificate issued by Directorate of Technical Education of respective states
A certificate issued by the principal or head or the director of the institute
Receipt of tuition fees
Bank passbook of the student linked with his/her Adhaar card
Adhaar Card
Declaration letter signed by the parents to certify the authenticity of the information given by their ward
The competent authority issued disability certificate (only for Saksham Candidates)
