Aligarh Muslim University has announced its decision to conduct the impending final semester exam through an online open-book mode. A set of teachers have shown their disapproval for the same and have written a letter to the Vice-Chancellor of AMU.
AMU or the Aligarh Muslim University is all set to conduct an online open-book exam for the final semester. A spokesman of the university confirmed the news and said that the open-book exam will be conducted for all final semester undergraduate and postgraduate courses of AMU. The entire AMU exam schedule is expected to be announced soon and the final semester exams are more likely to be conducted after 10th July 2020. Aligarh Muslim University has also decided that the test for the first semester that has not been conducted earlier will be held in the same manner between 5th July 2020 and 10th July 2020.
Following the decision taken by AMU, few teachers have penned down a letter for the Vice-Chancellor of the university. The elected representative of the university’s executive committee, Professor Aftab Alam, claims that holding an online exam violates the regulations of the university. He said that any such major decisions need to be backed up by some mandate procedures. The letter has voiced the concern ardently and called the method of conducting online exams “discriminatory and flawed”.

Further, keeping in mind the present scenario, the letter also circles out the fact that not all students may have proper access to internet facilities. Meanwhile, all the offices of AMU that re-opened on 8th June 2020 marked full attendance. The employees who reside in coronavirus containment areas or are senior citizens have been spared by AMU from attending office.
