Engineering and Management students studying in various universities in the Anantapur city of Andhra Pradesh felt the need for better training programmes and update in the academic curriculum of higher education courses.
The drought-prone area the Anantapur presently has four universities SKU , Technical University JNTUA, Central university and a deemed university. The plight of students is that more than 80% of students who complete engineering and professional courses from theses universities are jobless.
According to some students, one of the reasons for students not getting a job after graduation is that the universities are following the same old academic curriculum and structure which need to be updated according to the latest technology and demand in the industry.

Rangarajan who is an M.Tech student in SKU felt the need for training programmes in the universities of India which will help them get employment. He regretted with the fact that the universities are not updating the academic syllabus according to the latest technology and need of the industry.
Computer Science and Computer Application students do not have exposure to the latest technology like IoT, Machine Learning, Cryptography, Data Science and Big Data.
Rakesh and Rajesh who are MBA students of SKU said that the courses offered at the universities should be job oriented and graduate students should get a job irrespective of their stream and more on the basis of skills and knowledge.
M Suresh Prabhu, the president of Praja Science Vedika in an address to the audience said that the Anantapur city which has four universities have not included National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL) chapter in the academic syllabus which is essential to impart skilled enhancement training to students.

He further said that final year students who could not be placed must be given appropriate training to help them improve skills. Also, he said that Sri Krishnadevaraya Institute of Academic Development (SKIAD) which used to provide necessary training to students still 2017 and had some of the best infrastructure and lab is being neglected by the university.
