Banaras Hindu University (BHU) in Varanasi and the Geological Survey of India Training Institute (GSITI) of Hyderabad entered a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 24th April 2019, Wednesday. The two bodies will collaborate for academic and research programmes that lead to doctoral degrees and help students with their Ph.D.
The Geological Survey of India Training Institute is a leading organisation of India that is pertaining to earth science. This organisation has vast data repository in earth sciences and its fields while Banaras Hindu University is one of the most prestigious universities of India and also a centre of learning that has an international reputation. The MoU was signed at BHU by the Deputy Director General and Head of GSITI, Ch Venkateswara Rao, and the Registrar of BHU, Dr. Neeraj Tripathi.

This Memorandum of Understanding signed between BHU and GSI will beneficial for both the parties. It will prove to be beneficial and provide a smooth path for exchanging scientists and faculty in the areas of their common interest. This will further lead to imparting quality training to each and every stakeholder.
The Memorandum of Understanding will also enable both the institutes for collaborating in the research of topics that are of common interest to both parties. The officers of the Geological Survey of India will be awarded doctoral degrees of Ph.D and Banaras Hindu University will gain several benefits by having professional field training programmes for undergraduate and postgraduate students of the university.

According to a press release, the professional field training programmes will be conducted by Banaras Hindu University in every academic session on a regular basis. This MoU will ensure that both the bodies function smoothly and can get assistance from each other in order to make their curriculum better and provide more opportunities for their students.
