Bihar School of Examination Board bags an award for the promotion of technology in conducting exams in the category for 'Government’s initiative to promote and develop the technologies' at World Education Summit 2019. The details about the technology introduced are given below.
In the World Education Summit 2019 held at New Delhi, Bihar School of Examination Board (BSEB) won an award in the category - ‘government’s initiative to promote and develop the technologies’ for promoting technology for conducting an exam.
The technology that BSEB used for conducting exam this year was the introduction of computerized technology in registration to the declaration of results. This way the BSEB terminated the manual process of exam management and result process.Printed OMR booklets which consist of the details such as – Student Name, Roll Number, Subject Code, Roll Code, etc are printed for approximately 1.8 crore students who are appearing for the Secondary and Higher Secondary examinations. These sheets are usually printed with lithocodes and barcodes which helps in the computerized processing of the answer copies.
Software to do a quick evaluation of answer sheets was developed by the IT team of BSEB. This software also helps in calculating marks accurately. 2,100 computers across all the evaluation centers for feeding marks was provided by the board.
Due to this advanced technological way to evaluate the answer sheet BSEB was the first board to release the annual results of Secondary (matric), Higher Secondary (Intermediate), Compartmental exams this year by May.
The chairman of Bihar School of Examination Board (BSEB) said that around 30 lakh students appear for the Secondary and Higher Secondary exam and it is the responsibility of the board to check the answer sheets accurately as results affect the lives of the students as well as the family of the students. This advanced technology is being adopted by BSEB in order to make the BSEB exam system better.
It is indeed a very good move of the Bihar School of Examination Board and other boards should be inspired by it and incorporate the same evaluating system. Sometimes manually, the calculation of marks and evaluation are not accurate and it affects the results of the students. Hence, it is better if all the boards adapt this advance technology for evaluation.
