CAT Results 2019 - Male Engineers Top the List with 100 Percentile

10 male engineers are the CAT 2019 toppers with 100 percentile. 6 of the toppers are from IITs, two from NITs, one from Jadavpur University and a deemed Karnataka university.

Male Engineers with 100 Percentile in CAT 2019

10 candidates have topped CAT 2019 with 100 percentile.. Like last year’s CAT result, all 10 candidates are males and come from an engineering background. Rahul Manglik from IIT Bombay bagged 99.9 percentile. Girls were not able to make it to the list of 21 students who got the second best score. A girl candidate from BITS Pilani scored the highest among females with 99.98 percentile. More than 35 percent of the test takers were girls.

As per the statement issued by an official from IIM Kozhikode , 6 of the toppers are from IITs, two are from NITs, one from Jadavpur University and a deemed Karnataka university. 4 of the candidates are from Maharashtra and the remaining ones are from Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Jharkhand, Uttarakhand, Telangana and West Bengal, Shubhasis Dey, CAT Convener, 2019 said.

Sumansh Chordia from IIT Bombay, Rishi Mittal from NIT Surat , Patrick D’Souza who has his own coaching institute and another faculty member from a leading coaching institute are the Maharashtra toppers. Chordia got the perfect score in his very first attempt. He is a mechanical engineer from IIT Bombay who was managing his final-year exams along with CAT preparation . He also got a placement offer from a Japanese firm last month as a part of campus placements.

1,39,417 male candidates and 75004 female candidates appeared for the exam along with 5 transgender candidates. Roughly 2,44,169 people had registered for CAT 2019 as compared to 2,40,338 people last year.

The issue of fewer girls taking up the top slots remains an issue and IIMs have been taking steps to have more women on their campuses. The weightage given to CAT has gone down over the years. More girls are now appearing for the exam as the are aware of the additional weightage given by the IIMs during admissions.
