CBSE Class 12 Physics Daily Practice Questions 20 October 2023

Section A: Multiple-Choice Question

During the process of b– decay,

  1. an atomic electron is ejected.

  2. an electron which was already present in the nucleus, is ejected.

  3. a neutron is converted into a proton and the created electron is ejected from the nucleus.

  4. a proton is converted into a neutron and the created electron is ejected from the nucleus.

Section B: Very Short Answer Type Question

An electron in a hydrogen atom jumps from state n = 3 to n = 1. The change in the angular momentum of the electron will be ____________.

Section C: Short Answer Type Question

Two point charges q and – q are located at (0, 0, – a) and (0, 0, a) respectively.

  1. Depict the equipotential surfaces due to this arrangement.
  2. Find  the amount of work done in moving a small test charge  q0 from point (l, 0, 0) to (0, 0, 0).

Section D: Long Answer Type Question

The thickness of a  conductor continuously decreases from its one end (A) to another end (B). It is connected across the terminals of a battery. What will be the effect on the value of

  1. electric field,
  2. current density, and
  3. mobility of the electron

at a point on the conductor as one moves from end A to end B ?

Section E: Case-Based Question

  1. With the help of a diagram, explain the working of a moving coil galvanometer. Justify the necessity of using radial magnetic field in it.
  2. A galvanometer can be converted into a voltmeter to measure up to
  1. V volt by connecting a resistance of 2 kW in series with the galvanometer.
  2. 2 V volt by connecting a resistance 5 kW in series with the galvanometer.

Calculate the resistance that should be connected in series with the galvanometer to convert it into a voltmeter to measure up to V/2 volt.
