An official circular issued by CISCE (Council for Indian School Certificate Exams) to all the affiliated schools stated that the council will take the responsibility of preparing question papers for Class 9 and Class 11 final examinations from the next academic session. So far, respective schools affiliated to CISCE have been preparing the question papers for the two classes.

An official associated with Bengal Chapter of ICSE schools, Mr. Nabarun Dey revealed that the council planned to set question papers for the final exams of Class 9 and Class 11 with an aim to cover a sizable portion of the syllabus in both classes so that students are not burdened before the board examinations.
According to sources, CISCE is expected to prepare question papers only for core subjects. Even though the idea was not mentioned in the circular, Mr. Nabarun Dey clarified that the council would soon take a call on the core subjects. The officials of CISCE have once again reminded that the pass mark for Class 10 and Class 12 has been reduced . From this academic session, a Class 10 student will have to score 33 (earlier 35) for passing the exams while a Class 12 student will have to score 35 (earlier 40) to pass in the board exams. The officials have clearly mentioned that the new pass mark will be effective from 2018 onwards.
