DY Patil International University (DYPIU), a self-financed private university located in Akurid is all set to start its academic and administrative activities from the upcoming academic session, i.e., 2018-19. Initially, the varsity will offer eight Bachelor degree courses apart from diploma and certificate courses.
A senior official of DYPIU revealed that the existing colleges belonging to management and engineering streams will continue to be affiliated to SPPU (Savitribai Phule Pune University).

President of DY Patil Pratishthan, Mr. Sanjay Patil expressed that DYPIU will be the fifth university under DY Patil trust. The varsity received approval to start academic courses for the batch of 2018-19 on March 14, 2018. The varsity will inculcate interdisciplinary approach to education. There is a need to put the interdisciplinary approach in practice by integrating it with teaching and learning process, he added.
DYPIU is planning to adopt CBCS (Choice Based Credit System) where 50% of learning will be based on practicals. With a motive to give international exposure to students, the varsity hired foreign faculty from international universities. Similarly, the varsity will also facilitate student exchange programme in collaboration with renowned foreign universities .

DYPIU will offer complete fee waiver to top five students from each stream. The fee structure of various courses will be fixed as per the existing norms of Fee Regulating Committee. The varsity is also planning to launch a wide range of courses and sought the approval of AICTE for the same.
