This way applicants can save, and invest their time studying the important topics, and likewise improve their chances of getting outstanding results in the test. For convenience, the expected topic-wise weightage for UGC NET English 2023 has been shared here.

Expected Topic-Wise Weightage for UGC NET English 2023

The important topics for UGC NET English 2023 have been provided in a tabular format below. The topics are stated according to the descending order of importance.

Priority

Topic Name

Topic-Wise Weightage

First Priority

All topics from Unit I to Unit IV (60 or 70% of questions can appear from this segment)

60-70%

Second Priority

Literature Criticism and Cultural Studies

30-40%

Third Priority

Literary Theory

Fourth Priority

Linguistics/English Usage

According to last year’s analysis, 60-70% of the questions appear from Unit I to Unit IV, and 30-40% of questions appear from Unit V to X. Therefore, applicants must prioritize the first four units, and then move to the rest. Furthermore, candidates must note that even though Non-British literature is trending, they must not leave British literature for revision. This is because non-British is still a minority portion. Although the number of questions that appear in this section has improved, it is still not at par with the number of questions that appear in British literature.

Note : The table states an approximate weightage, and is not the exact pattern that might be followed in the test. However, candidates can estimate the important sections from this table and plan their studies accordingly.
