In a statement made by the President, Ram Nath Kovind, he says that female students tend to perform better in academics than the male students overall, across the nation. However, the number of female students still remain relatively low in terms of enrollment into educational institutions.
He stated that the number of girls who get enrolled in educational institutions is a ‘paradox’ as female students are among the toppers in classrooms and school examinations. He believes that if the female students are given the chance, they will do the same in higher educations. He was the launch of the National Ranking that is conducted by the Ministry of Human Resource and Development of higher educational institutions for the current year.
President Kovind also stated that in all the convocations that he has visited this year, he has seen many female students who are toppers in different categories. He adds that the educational scenario of India has grown exponentially which has not only given access to female students to study but also reduced the problem of discrimination in terms of the gender of the child.

The president also added that even though there has been a rise in the number of educational institutions in India, the quality of education is some of these institutions could be better. He also states that there are institutions that provide top quality education to its students, on one hand, there are others who do not. He adds that there is a need to raise the bar for excellence in terms of education in India.
In another statement made by the President, he states that India should focus on becoming one of the best in terms of World rankings of higher educational institutions and universities in the coming future. He continues to add that the educational institutions should strive to rank among the top global educational institutions with the same enthusiasm they have for India rankings.
