In the 15-day mega placement drive conducted by Gujarat Government earlier this year, a total of 17,000 final year students were placed in different companies. However, until today, only 254 out of those students have received the joining letter while others are still waiting for their joining confirmation by the respective company. The companies have reportedly put their hiring process on hold currently due to the prevailing conditions of COVID-19.
The report has come to the limelight through a recent survey conducted by the Nodal Agency, Knowledge Consortium of Gujarat (KCG), Ahmedabad, among the recruiters and the students who had been places through the camp. As per the official statement released by the Agency, since the companies were in no direct contact with the students, they had to contact the company directly. The officials further added that the companies have postponed their recruitment process due to the lockdown in the country and will continue the process once the condition gets normal.
Now, while the rest of the students are waiting for their final year exams, few students have joined the companies already.
