Delhi government has appointed a private agency to offer free-of-cost support for training government school students for JEE and NEET entrance exams. According to an agreement between the Delhi government and Career Launcher, special crash courses have been designed to train students for these competitive exams. These students are presently studying in class 12th in science stream at Delhi government schools. Further, the company has also organized a training session for Delhi government school teachers to help students with the training.

The Deputy CM of Delhi, Manish Sisodia acknowledged the guidance being provided to the Delhi government school students by the company. The number of students getting selected in IIT-JEE exam has risen to more than 300 today from 40-50 since 2015. Students will be given 130 hours of training in all four main subjects-Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Biology. The classes are conducted after school hours from 7 pm-10 pm and have begun from January 21, 2019.

In another recent development, CM Arvind Kejriwal laid the foundation stone for constructing 11,000 new classrooms in more than 200 Delhi government schools. This can be seen as the second phase of infrastructure building by the Delhi government post construction of 8000 new classrooms which was done between 2015-2018.

Kejriwal said that building infrastructure isn’t a big deal, but Delhi government school teachers have gained a lot of confidence by getting exposure at some of the most prestigious institutes such as Harvard, Oxford, and Cambridge, he said.

It is an achievement that about 300-350 students of Delhi government schools cleared IIT-JEE last year because it involves a lot of dedication as well as hard work to get through the exam, Kejriwal added.
