The results of the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering - GATE has been declared by the Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati . The result was released on 16 March 2018 and now the online registration and fee payment for the centralized counselling CCMT will start from 3 April. The last date for the registration and CCMT is 8 May.

The candidates will be offered admission on the basis of their choice in the order of merit. GATE has already released the answer keys for the examination on 14 March. Also, the seat allotment is on the basis of merit list and the availability of seats. The merit list for the same will be prepared on the basis of GATE score. However, candidates wish to determine inter-se-merit of candidates who have same GATE score, following criteria will be followed:
- Candidates with GATE 2016 score will be given preference over the ones with 2017 or 2018 score and so on.
- In case, the year of GATE score is same, candidates who have obtained higher marks will be given preference.
The GATE exam took place on 3, 4, 10 and 11 February 2018 and was conducted for candidates who plan to study masters and doctoral courses in the field of engineering, architecture, and technology among others in IITs and Indian Institute of Science . GATE counseling process is a convenient platform for all candidates as it makes the admission process easier for students who have applied for M.Tech/ M.Arch/ M.Des programmes on the basis of their GATE score. Candidates who meet have successfully passed the GATE are offered admission in premier institutions of the country.
