A virtual laboratory has been set up by Indian Institute of Technology and Ministry of Human Resources Development at Gujarat University. The inauguration of this new lab will take place at Gujarat University on 12 April 2018.
Gujarat University is the centre for virtual labs. It will provide the users with an opportunity to perform experiments and conduct research with a learning management system. The system will provide the users with video lectures, self-evaluation, web resources and animated demonstrations.

Around 30 principals from various state colleges affiliated to Gujarat University have been provided training by the faculty of IIT Bombay. This will also provide the students of the state to perform extensive research and experiments that were just not possible earlier that too with a systematic management system .
Dr. Himanshu Pandya, Vice- Chancellor, GU, said that the labs are designed to provide access to other physical labs in various fields of Science and Engineering. One of the main hindrance faced by the users while conducting the experiment is the limited availability of resources. Therefore the virtual labs will offer a solution to this problem and will be accessible to all students.

As per the reports, 24 colleges have already received the training regarding the same and GU is targeting 30 such centres. The principles of the state colleges will impart hands-on-training which will help students to conduct more than a thousand experiments and conduct intensive research within the state.
