IGNOU Launches Three New Online Courses In Rural Development

The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has launched three online courses on Rural Development. The courses launched by IGNOU's School of Continuing Education in the Discipline of Rural Development are Certificate of Rural Development, Master of Arts in Rural Development (MARDOL), and a Post Graduate Diploma in Rural Development (PGDRDOL). Students can register for Rural Development courses on the official website ignouiop.samarth.edu.in.

Certificate of Rural Development (CRDOL)

The Rural Development program offered by IGNOU provides a comprehensive understanding of the socio-economic factors affecting rural society. This course aims to impart an integrated understanding of the crucial dimensions of rural development to learners who do not have the time or resources to complete the Post Graduate Diploma in Rural Development but still wish to have a comprehensive orientation in rural development within a short period of time, the release said.

Master of Arts Rural Development (MARDOL)

Study of Rural Development helps to understand the development issues associated with rural society. The M.A. Programme in Rural Development syllabus at IGNOU is designed to cover such a wide range of academic topics that are essential for making this discipline relevant in the Indian context. A key component of this programme is the dissertation, which will focus on empirical research related to rural areas. It will be useful to individuals working in various government departments/agencies, non-profit organizations, cooperative sector organizations, and other organizations involved in rural development. It will also be beneficial for fresh graduates interested in a career in rural development, the report said.

Post Graduate Diploma Rural Development (PGDRDOL)

A Post Graduate Diploma in Rural Development aims to provide students with comprehensive knowledge of the socio-economic factors affecting rural society. In this context, learners will gain a thorough understanding of the crucial dimensions of rural development. The release said that the course aims to enable learners to acquire skills related to planning, formulation, monitoring, and evaluation of rural development projects and programmes. Furthermore, it introduces the learner to the fundamentals of research and project work. It added that the Project Work gives students the opportunity to study different layers of rural development aspects, which gives them the skills to do research in rural development.
