IIM Ahmedabad Winter School to be Held in December

Winter School’s 4th Edition is scheduled to be held at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Ahmedabad from December 15 to December 18, 2017. It is the flagship event of the Right to Education Resource Center (RTERC) of IIM Ahmedabad.

The session is aimed at giving participants an open approach and social change insights through the four-day long event, which is taking place at the IIM Ahmedabad campus itself. The last day to register for the programme is November 12, 2017.

Educators from the institute and renowned dignitaries from the nation will take these introduction sessions. In the last edition, professors Anish Sugathan, Kathan Shukla, Rajeev Sharma among others will be the speakers at the Winter School.

The agenda for the event is to comprehend topics such as those related to social changes and public policies primarily. Aspects such as engendering of education will be in focus as well.

Once the students are well oriented about the policies and the structure of the programme, they would have to perform a practicum as per their respective interests and choices. It ideally takes students ten days to complete their practicum. After the completion of the practicum, students are required to send their report to the RTERC. The report is a detailed data of their coursework and the policies studied that further enables them to get a certification from IIM Ahmedabad.

Last year in 2016, a total of 80 students participated in the programme and the institute received a lot of appreciation for the same. The students worked on policies of Night Schools in Mumbai, Delhi State Government School, and others.

Winter School at IIM provides students opportunities to meet with the diverse student community, thereby broadening their perspective about marginal groups and social policies.
