The Indian Institute of Management (IIM Calcutta) will set up its satellite campus in the New Town area of Kolkata. As per the reports, Mamata Banerjee led TMC government has allocated land to one of the premier B-schools in India to set a new campus for its expansion activities, and for offering advanced academic courses to the students.
According to a statement issued by Professor Anju Seth, IIM Calcutta’s Director, IIM Calcutta’s expansion via its satellite campus as a part of the institute’s expansion activities. Seth also mentioned that IIM Calcutta has also planned a few initiatives for the overall development of the IIM for the next few years, and the satellite campus will be an important part of this.

Regarding this development the Chairperson Board of Governors of IIM Calcutta, Shrikrishna Kulkarni said IIM Calcutta’s presence in New Town will help with the growth opportunities which are needed for global relevance. IIM Calcutta’s Chief Administrative Officer said along with the land allotment for the satellite campus, the government has also facilitated the key infrastructure improvements including the supply of municipal water to IIM Calcutta’s Joka campus.

IIM Calcutta has triple crown accreditation by AACSB (of USA), AMBA (of UK) and EFMD (of Europe). It is the only Indian business school which is a member of the CEMS, (the global alliance of management education). It has also been ranked consistently in the top three business schools of India.
