On November 6, 2017, Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Indore, achieved another milestone by becoming a ‘cashless campus’ by inaugurating renovated Mess 2. It is a student-run venture, and the inaugural ceremony took place in the presence of Director of IIM Indore, Professor Rishikesha and other faculty members.
Infrastructure Committee run by Students Activity Council manages the renovated mess. The new mess, i.e., Mess 2 looks vibrant, vivid and pleasant hangout place for the students. With the renovation of Mess 2, six additional kiosks were added including: -
- G-Square
- Pasta & More
- Chick-n-Serve
- Coffee Cup
- Champz - The Snack House
- Doctor Donuts
The inauguration of kiosks took place with the usage of Onus Cards, marking the inception of a new mode of cashless transactions at IIM Indore. At the outlet, the students can make payments by using ID card (which acts as e-wallet). For making payments through Onus Cards, the students need to follow three simple steps including: -
- Adding money to E-Wallet connect to IIM Indore College ID
- The scan the card at the device to make the payment
- Finally, insert the product code and then enter the security PIN to verify the payment

The new cashless mode provides a convenient and safe payment solution to the students. There is no necessity to carry cash all the time, and the new system removes the problems of shortage of change. Moreover, most of the outlets on the campus support cashless payments through Paytm. IIM Indore introduced Onus Cards with the support of Yes Bank.
