IIM Jammu to Invest Rs.500 Crores on Infrastructure Development

IIM Jammu will be investing Rs.450 crores for the development of its main campus on Jammu-Katra Road. Another Rs.55 crore will be spent on developing an off-line campus in Srinagar, which will mostly be focusing on management courses related to local agriculture and industries.

IIM Jammu Infrastructure Development

The Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Jammu will soon be starting work on its campus that is planned to cost around Rs. 450 crores. One of the young Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) , IIM Jammu has currently been functioning from the campus of old Jammu University.

The information was given out by Miling Kamble, the Chairman of the Board of Governors of IIM Jammu. He also informed that IIM Jammu will also invest Rs. 55 crore on an offline campus in Srinagar in order to increase the reach of its management programmes.

Mr Kamble informed that 200 acres of land has been allocated for the institute on Jammu-Katra road at a distance of 200 km from the Jammu city. The tender for the Jammu campus has been released. The work is planned to start in two months and it will take two years to complete.

IIM Jammu MBA 2020 Batch Receiving Good Response

Another good news coming out of the institute is that IIM Jammu is getting a good response for the 2020 batch of its Master of Business Administration (MBA) course. So far, the institute has failed to fill all of the allocated 160 seats for the course. However, this year, there are 700 students on the waiting list of IIM Jammu and the institute is planning to increase the seat intake of its MBA course from 160 to 240.

As per the information given out by Mr Kamble, the institute has seen an increased interest across all categories of candidates and more than 30% of the seats have been taken up by women candidates, which is a first for the youngest IIM in India.

IIM Jammu To Become More Accessible to Local Aspirants

The response has come at a time when the institute is taking radical steps in order to make studying at IIM more accessible to local MBA aspirants by coaching them for competitive exams and offering tailor-made courses focusing on the local horticulture, agriculture and processing industries.

The placement statistics of IIM Jammu have also shown an improvement in the past couple of years. The average salary package increased from Rs. 9.40 LPA in 2018-19 to Rs. 12.90 LPA in 2019-20. The highest salary package also shot up from Rs. 10.54 LPA to Rs. 24.50 LPA for the respective batches.

In addition, the institute has also launched a PhD course, which has received hundreds of applications from all over the country.
