IIM Sambalpur has decided to double the intake of students from the upcoming academic session. The existing intake of the premier institute is 60 and will be increased to 120. Also, IIM Sambalpur will be shifted to a new building located on the campus of Sambalpur University . The authorities of IIM Sambalpur will take possession of building after the completion of electrical works. At present, IIM Sambalpur is functioning in the building of Silicon Institute of Technology .
Director of IIM Sambalpur, Mahadeo Prasad Jaiswal revealed that IIM Sambalpur was not able to attract more students as the temporary campus is located in an isolated place and lacks proper commutation. Therefore, a decision has been taken to shift to Sambalpur University, he added.

The new campus of IIM Sambalpur will have 150 rooms for the hostel and five classrooms. Suitable interior designs will be made soon at the new campus.
IIM Sambalpur is yet to get a permanent campus. The construction of permanent campus has commenced and is expected to be completed in the next two years.
IIM Sambalpur began its first PGP batch in 2015 . The first convocation ceremony of the first batch of PGP students took place on April 06, 2017. The placement numbers of the first batch were also outstanding. Over 34 companies offered 69 offers to 48 students. A total number of 21 students bagged two offers each.

The admission process of IIM Sambalpur for the second session has started. The admission formalities will be completed by May 2018, and the classes for the new batch will begin in June.
