IIM Shillong’s E-Cell organised Emerge, the annual flagship entrepreneurship summit. The eighth edition of the summit which took place on February 22 and 23, 2020 celebrated the entrepreneurial spirit of the leaders of tomorrow.
Director of IIM Shillong, Professor DP Goyal delivered a speech highlighting innovation and entrepreneurship and how it isn’t enough just to develop managers but also entrepreneurs and job providers who will be willing to make use of the opportunities and remain ready to take up the challenges. He also mentioned that entrepreneurship is a state of mind.

Panel discussions with noted entrepreneurs from across the country were also held and the theme of the discussion was “Hospitality landscape in North East” and “The Young Entrepreneurs. The objective of this was to give the participants an idea of how to handle failures and challenges and find opportunities for moving forward with their journey of entrepreneurship. Some of the speakers at the summit were Prashant Rao Aroor, CEO, IintelliStay Hotels, Larsing Ming Sawyan, MD, The Centre Point Group, Girish Ahirwar, Serial Entrepreneur, Amit Gautam, CEO & Founder Pasito Industries etc.

Gunajit Brahma, the national award-winning serial entrepreneur hosted a workshop on “Essentials for Business Success”. College students from Shillong also took part in the event.“Best Manager” competition was also held and it included case analysis, presentation and interview. The event looked at checking the ability of the participants.
