The virtual commencement ceremony of the new batches of IIM Shillong was conducted on 24 August. 247 students will be joining the 2020 PGP batch of IIM Shillong while the enrollment in MBA (Working Executives) and Doctoral batches is 20 and 6 students respectively.

The Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Shillong has conducted a virtual ceremony for the commencement of its 13th batch of Post Graduate Programme (PGP). In the virtual ceremony, the institute also flagged off the 9th batch of its Doctoral programme and the 1st batch of MBA for Working Executives. The 2020 batches have seen 247, 6 and 20 enrollments for the PGP, Doctoral and MBA for Working Executives programmes respectively.
The virtual commencement ceremony of IIM Shillong was conducted on 24 August. Dr Praveen Kumar, CO-CEO of the Barclays Global Service Centre, India, was the Chief Guest at the occasion. The event was also attended by Mr Shishir Bajoria, the Chairman of the Board of Governors of IIM Shillong, and Prof D P Goyal, the Director of IIM Shillong.

Dr Praveen Kumar presented the commencement address at the occasion in which he emphasised on the need for resilience and on the importance to catch up on technical advancements in today's world. Dr Kumar also spoke about the emerging business models for aspirants seeking management education and motivated the students about the opportunities that lay ahead.
Prof Goyal also addressed the virtual gathering and provided a brief introduction to the future of the students at the institute and the learning opportunities that they will be provided. "Strong individual capability and feeling of togetherness is what makes IIM Shillong a family.”, said Dr Goyal.

The students also got to hear the Presidential address, which was delivered by Mr Bajoria. He shared his thoughts about the need for innovational and entrepreneurial spirit in times of adversity.
