From the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati , a team of researchers have developed an Artificial Intelligence-based Chatbox. The AI Chatbot, named ALBELA has been developed to assist first-year students of Electrical and Electronics Engineering department.
A professor from the Department of EEE, Samarendra Dandapat announced that the Chatbot will be currently available to the students of EEE. However, by next year, the Chatbot will support the Electrical Machine and Biomedical Signal Processing courses. With the help of the AI Chatbot, the students will receive responses to their queries.
Another Professor, Praveen Kumar from the same department stated that the team of researchers had been working for seven months to make the chatbot live. He added that there were a total of seven researchers from the department who worked hard to make Albela live.
Officials from the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati have announced that through the AI Chatbot, the students will be able to learn about the different schedules for classes, tutorials or any questions regarding the examinations conducted at the institute. They further added that the students will be advised on the different reference books, textbooks as well as sample questions and notes for academic purposes. They claim that the Chatbot has been designed to answer all questions related to the Institute’s administrative functions as well as academics.

IIT-G has also announced that the Chatbot is based on the IBM cloud, i.e. JSON-based and SQL-based. The chatbot has been designed to carry data such as the attendance, marks obtained by the student in the mid or end semester exams and quiz exams.

With educational institutions working towards adopting the new changes and technology especially Artificial Intelligence , that are being developed in the world, the students will be exposed to the new technology and its functions.
