IIT Hyderabad is going to collaborate with the famous smartphone brand, OPPO to conduct research on emerging technologies. On January 13, 2020, the dean of Research & Development, IIT Hyderabad, Dr Sumohana S. Channappayya and the vice president and head of R&D, OPPO India, Mr Tasleem Arif signed an MoU for the same. The MoU signed between IIT Hyderabad and OPPO India facilitated the exchange of ideas and the conduction of research in terms of developing emerging and advanced technologies.
The major focus of the collaboration will be on the development of the research project within the time period of two years. The research will be conducted majorly in the field of emerging technologies including image processing, 5G Network, Artificial Intelligence, battery, system information, and others. The collaboration between the two aims to build a bridge between the business skills and academic excellence to prepare the students as an industry-ready workforce.

On the MoU event, Mr Tasleem Arif, the vice president and head of R&D, OPPO India stated that as we continue to develop our products in streamlined with the local Indian market, the collaboration with IIT Hyderabad will help us to innovate our R&D capabilities. He further added that the collaboration is focused on quality research and technology integration & promotion, especially in the field of AI and 5G.
In a similar context, the dean of Research & Development, IIT Hyderabad, Dr Sumohana S. Channappayya said that we are pleased to collaborate with OPPO India to help them enhance their R&D capabilities. This will help to bring excellent technological breakthroughs in the Indian market and invent an advanced solution to cater to local market needs.
