In a recent development, IIT Kharagpur has inked agreements with three universities in Israel for student exchanges, faculty visits and research collaborations in aerospace, agriculture and computer science.
Memorandum of understanding (MOUs) were signed with the Ben-Gurion University (BGU), Hebrew University and University of Haifa when IIT-Kgp Director PP Chakrabarti led the academic delegation from India during President Pranab Mukherjee's recent visit to the country.
“The Israeli universities are traditionally strong in the areas of computer science, aerospace, agriculture and food engineering etc. which are in synergy with the areas of academics and research at IIT Kgp. We are planning some unique student exchanges, faculty visits and research workshops and projects," said the Director.
The current scope of cooperation with these universities range from exchange programmes for faculty, students and scholars, joint research and exchange of research materials, joint academic activities - teaching and supervision of students, joint conferences, workshops, the participation of students in study-abroad programmes.
IIT-Kgp already has a tie-up with the oldest university in Israel, Technion-Israel Institute of Technology.
