India and Russia are holding discussions on the acceptance and recognition of the Diploma and other related Degrees being offered to Indian students in Russia.

The agreement signed by India and Russia for the promotion of cooperation and exchange of educational benefits between the two nations with the help of Parliamentary Friendship Group extends its notion of recognition on the mutual acknowledgement of the degrees being circulated in Russia. The two nations are holding discussions on the provisions of the proposed accord for the identification and acceptance of the Diplomas and other Degrees offered to the students in Russia.

The head of the Russian Senators, Yelena Afanasyeva revealed this information and also stated a focused approach on promoting the essence of the agreement through this discussion.

The point of discussion is the absence of the mutual acknowledgement of degrees that is affecting the Indian Students. Most of its effects are witnessed on the Medical students going to Russia for studying Medicine. Yelena also said that the two nations are into this discussion for years and is set to discuss in a planned way considering point – by – point provisions of the agreement this time. She has also proposed the need for a new agreement with the important pointers of acceptance after the discussion gets over.

For the discussion, the Russian Senators including Deputy Chair of the Committee on Budget and Financial Markets – Elena Perminova and the First Deputy Chair of the Committee on Economic Policy – Vyacheslav Timchenko met Harivansh Narayan Singh the Deputy Chairman of the Rajya Sabha, Ram Madhav the General Secretary of BJP, Sonia Gandhi the former Congress President and Hema Malini the BJP Lok Sabha MP including other dignitary leaders. Hema Malini also chairs the India-Russia Parliamentary Friendship Group.
