Institutes of Eminence (IoEs) will soon invite Nobel Laureates to their campuses. The initiative is to seek guidance from them for developing model villages as a part of Unnat Bharat scheme. Through this initiative, IoEs will play a vital role in the sustainable development of rural India.
Union HRD Minister, Mr. Ramesh Pokhriyal revealed that the higher learning institutes in India, which were recognized under the IoE scheme will have to play a dominant role in leading a new generation towards excellence. IoEs are already working on improving global rankings, and the aim is to make these institutes the centres of excellence at the global level, he added.
HRD Ministry will set up a Project Monitoring Unit to supervise the progress of IoEs and activities that these institutes take up. As a part of activities, IoEs have the flexibility to work on model villages under Unnat Bharat scheme, and all the necessary support and guidance will be provided to these institutes on the same.

As a part of their IoE tag, premier institutes are free to invite Nobel Laureates, foreign faculty/ professors to deepen and enlarge the interface of Indian higher learning institutes. Such initiatives will help IoEs to boost up their research initiatives and promote quality education.
HRD Minister assured that the balance grants due for the academic session 2019-20 shall be disbursed to the institutes in the current financial year.
