Chief Secretary of the Government of Punjab, Dr. Karan Avatar Singh inaugurated the new Certificate Course in Business Analytics (CBA) at Indian School of Business (ISB) Mohali on October 9, 2017.
The new CBA course at ISB Mohali will be offered through its Applied Statistics and Computing Lab. The Chief Strategy Officer for Fractal Electronics was the Guest of Honour at the inaugural session. Dean (ISB) – Professor Rajendra Srivastava, Senior Advisor to Dean – Professor Sridhar Seshadri, Executive Director (ISB) – Professor Bhimsankaram Pochiraju were also present at the inaugural ceremony.

Dr. Karan Avatar Singh gave the following pieces of advise to the CBA course students while expressing his concern about the non-prevalence of data science and analytics in India:
- Encouraged them to get a good understanding of the comprehended data
- Utilisation of comprehended data for the purpose of building an apt algorithm
- Using the forecast or the algorithm to understand the core problem and subsequently help the people

The curriculum of the ISB Mohali CBA course provides a proper framework, through which participants can learn to improve and enhance their management skills, gain a strategic perspective on the retail industry and expand their knowledge of business analytics. The current batch of CBA course has enrolled 46 participants who will have to undertake six visits of five days each to the campus for regular classes. The rest of the course will be delivered in an online mode for 15 months.
